Wet sanding is typically performed on very fine finish work. Wet sanding will allow for a more smooth finish, however, it will also take longer if the surface is too rough to begin with. Typically, I would use dry sanding with a medium 80-120 grit paper, then 220 grit sand paper, and lastly 360-600 wet sanding for a super fine finish.

Could you explain why someone would wet sand instead of dry sanding? Does it come out any smoother or better? Thanks!!
